Blog Entry #4: September 2025
Well, Fall is thinking about showing up any day now so I guess it's time for an update blog! This Summer flew by as I was finishing up research papers and having several mental breakdowns over my PhD applications as the world well... you know
This month (according to my editor) one of my chapters will hit shelves! So pick up a copy of The Lizard People Don't Want You to Read This: Essays on Conspiracy Theory in Popular Culture if you want to read my chapter about the creation of Mothman and his relationship to culture as both tragic folklore and conspiracy. Working on this chapter was really fun and felt like high-fiving my 11 year-old self who did a report on Mothman for extra credit. I guess the signs were always there that I would become an academic loser... what can you say?
I have also started trying my hand at quilting this month. It's very difficult, especially when you are monocular, but I am trying my best! I'll post a photo when I finally get something y'know...made. But until then just imagine a quilt top thats kind of fucked up looking and you probably have an idea of it. I've been trying to get better at sewing by making some costume pieces for the RenFaire! I'll share more about that once we have actually gone
Some day I will post another blog, probably after I scream through all my PhD applications and try to distract myself from the stress. Til then!
September Favorites
In an effort to make my internet experience better and contribute to the fight against algorithms I am adding a new section to this blog! Once a month (or whenever my blog is updated) I will give you some of my favorite things that I am enjoying lately!
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas I started reading this (and hopefully will finish it) this month! I have been meaning to read it for ages but my wife finishing it made me finally do it. This book is such a fun time, whenever I am not reading it I am thinking about it. I adore Edmond Dantes and the havoc he is responsible for.
Cool Youtube Channels I have been more intentionally seeking out cool or positive Youtube channels to watch while I am crafting. Three of my favorites this month are:
Miniminuteman (History), JessLess (Bookbinding), and Lindsay Nikole (Zoology)
Peaches I have purchased a giant case of jarred Costco peaches and just really appreciate a good piece of stone fruit. As Summer winds down make sure you take a second to eat some stone fruit!!
